A letter from Fiona
Livia Berger is going to spend a year in Ireland. She
will work as a volunteer in the local Red Cross shop in
Galway. Livia has received the address of her host
family and has sent them a letter introducing herself. This is the reply
from her host mother:
Dear Livia,
Thank you very much for your letter and for telling us a bit about yourself! My husband and I are excited to welcome you as our guest daughter, and we feel like we already know you.
Let me tell you about us. My name is Fiona, and my husband is named Liam. We also have a cat named Snowy. I’m 30 years old, and Liam is 34. I’m the manager of the Red Cross shop where you will be volunteering, and Liam works as a teacher at a local school.
We don’t have children, so we’re happy to have „guest children“ visit and stay with us. You said you have a big family, so I hope you’ll be okay with a smaller household. I have a sister named Maeve who lives nearby with her children: Tom, who is 6, and Lucy, who is 3. They’re very excited to meet you too! My parents live close by as well, and they’re looking forward to meeting their „guest granddaughter.“
