Reading comprehension: Goofy, the little kitten

Goofy is a kitten. This kitten is not big. He is very little. Goofy is black and white. His nose is black, too. Goofy is a nice, funny kitten.

All cats like playing ball. Goofy likes balls, too. One day Goofy goes for a walk (geht spazieren) and he sees a nice small ball in the park. What a ball! (Was für ein Ball!) Goofy wants (möchte) to take (nehmen) this ball home. He takes it and goes home.

The way home is near (neben) the river (Fluss) . Goofy comes to the river. And in the river he sees a kitten. The kitten is black and white, too. And the kitten in the river has a ball, too. Goofy is not greedy (gierig) but he wants to have two balls. He wants to take the ball from the kitten in the river.

Goofy jumps (springt) into the river. He drops (lässt fallen) his ball into the water. Goofy looks for (sucht nach) his ball – he can’t find it. He looks for the ball of the other (von dem anderen) kitten — nothing (nichts) !

Now Goofy has not got the ball. And sad Goofy goes home.
